Science capital - Chemists of the future?

Year 6 have welcomed two visitors this week: Mrs Kerry, a chemist and Mr Maitland who works in the pharmaceutical industry.  The children were given demonstrations of the work the scientists do and were able to take part in some of the experiments. Mrs Kerry works in the design and testing of cosmetic products and we made hand soap and hair gel with her.  Mr Maitland works in the development of new medicines / drugs and told us all about how drugs are created, tested and brought to market. We learnt it takes approximately 14 years to go through the whole process! A huge "thank you" to our visitors.
